Julia Flaherty: Content Marketing Specialist, Contributing Writer, Children's Book Author, Certified Health Coach, and Bridal Stylist

Hey, I'm Julia!
I'm the founder of Chronically You, LLC (est. 2025), based in the Fox Cities of Wisconsin. I partner with other businesses as a contractor to offer my content marketing, writing, editing, and health coaching services.
I'm passionate about helping others lean into what brings them the most joy in life.
A little about me...
I’ve lived with a chronic illness since 2004, and that experience has shaped both my life and my work. Over the years, I’ve built a career as a writer, editor, and content marketer, focused on creating clear, practical content people can actually use in their day-to-day lives.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. In 2019, I represented the U.S. at a Change.org All Team Retreat, where I spoke on the importance of insulin access and affordability.
Professionally, I serve as Client Content Manager at Diabetes Nerd Marketing and have created more than 1,000 pieces of content since 2015, including blogs, articles, eBooks, white papers, and social campaigns. I’ve held lead roles with organizations such as Beyond Type 1 and Edgepark Diabetes, and I continue to contribute as a writer to Beyond Type 1 and Type 1 Strong.
I also hold certifications in Functional Nutrition and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), which inform my approach to content and communication.
At Chronically You, LLC, I partner with other businesses to provide content marketing, writing, editing, and health coaching services. I’m also the author of the Rosie Becomes a Warrior children’s book series, available in English and Spanish.
At the center of everything I do is a commitment to helping people navigate complex topics in a way that feels clear, steady, and actually usable—especially when life doesn’t fit into neat categories. While I no longer offer health coaching services directly, I collaborate with organizations through my LLC to support and deliver this work.
A lot about me...
I’m a content marketer, writer, and editor who partners with purpose-driven brands to turn complex ideas into clear, human-centered messaging.

With nearly a decade of experience across industries—and a recent focus on health, wellness, and mission-driven organizations—I specialize in creating content that is both strategic and deeply relatable. My work is shaped by over 20 years of lived experience with chronic illness, which gives me a nuanced understanding of how people actually think, feel, and make decisions in real life—not just on paper.

I’m also a Certified Health Coach (CHC) and occasionally collaborate with organizations in coaching roles, bringing a blend of behavior change strategy, creativity, and compassionate accountability. Whether I’m developing content, refining brand voice, or supporting client education, my goal is simple: create work that helps people feel clearer, capable, and connected.

I believe the best work leaves things better than it found them—and I try to bring that into everything I do.

Marketing with a mission
Over the course of my career, I’ve worked across industries including fashion, beauty, entertainment, publishing, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations. These experiences strengthened my ability to adapt quickly, think strategically, and create messaging that resonates—especially for teams focused on meaningful impact.

Early in my career, I partnered closely with executives to refine marketing strategies, strengthen client relationships, and support business growth. That foundation continues to shape my work today: thoughtful, data-informed, and grounded in real human behavior.

I’ve contributed to a range of initiatives—from helping evolve legacy consumer brands and building data-driven engagement strategies to leading omni-channel marketing efforts for nationally recognized organizations.

A defining moment in my work came at Beyond Type 1, where I helped launch the organization’s first National Diabetes Awareness Month campaign, driving record engagement and national visibility. That experience brought together my personal and professional perspectives and deepened my commitment to using storytelling as a tool for advocacy and connection.
In addition to my marketing work, I’ve written for platforms such as Her Campus, Insulin Nation, and Thought Catalog, spoken internationally on insulin affordability and access, and authored a children’s book series to support families navigating type 1 diabetes.

Today, I continue to partner with brands as a contract content marketer, writer, and editor—while also collaborating with organizations in coaching or patient-centered roles when aligned.

At the core of my work is a simple goal: to help people and organizations communicate with clarity, purpose, and impact.
If that resonates, I’d love to connect.
